A clearer photo makes better text. Keep the page flat, well lit and in focus.

From photo to text

  1. Add your image. Choose a file, take a photo, paste a screenshot, or drag it into the workspace.
  2. Prepare it. Rotate upright. To crop, enable Crop and drag over the preview. On a phone, drag with one finger. Full image removes the selection.
  3. Extract and review. Select the language, then Extract text. Correct any errors directly in the text area.
  4. Use your text. Copy it or save a text file. Join wrapped lines removes line breaks within paragraphs.

Best for clear printed text. Handwriting, tables and complex layouts may need substantial correction. This version accepts one image at a time.

Camera availability and installation depend on your browser. You can always upload a photo instead. On iPhone, open in Safari and use Share → Add to Home Screen.

Salin performs OCR in your browser using a bundled Tesseract engine. It does not upload your images or extracted text, use analytics, or keep a document history.

Your image and text remain in memory while this page is open. Clear all removes them from the workspace; refreshing also starts a new workspace. Files you download and text you copy are managed by your device.

The app host receives normal requests to load the application. “Enable offline use” stores only the app and recognition files (about 28 MB) on your device. A successful setup is required before scanning offline, and your browser may later remove cached files.

Keep a separate copy of text you want to retain before closing this page.
